SC Community

Focused on art and science, our media was founded by the Hungarian civil organization (NGO) GeoThink in 2010 without any financial help but with keen collaboration of a group of friends, volunteer journalists, young researchers and artists with the aim of keeping and creating value. Our main goal is to provide the opportunity of a stepping stone for creative and talented people.
After the Hungarian success we are keen on continuing this work worldwide, first in English, Spanish and Portuguese than in further languages too - aiming to create value by bringing science and art closer to the public. We now intend to create an international and multicultural media and we welcome every creative and talented person who wants to join us, who has thoughts, opinion, research topic, artwork, or even travelling testimonials to share. This cross-border attitude and the multilingual media can connect people from all around the world who can learn from each other, who can share different cultural backgrounds.

Being a scientist or artist is a kind of privilege and mystery since the mankind can think about himself, it can give you the impression of initiation. Whitin science you whish to learn the world, in art you want to create something new from the world you have learnt. In both, you are free, your thoughts are free. Get to know, create, find your voice. This is the best place for it. Join us!

Les Misérables, the Movie. Unforgettable.

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, is the greatest novel of all time. Set in the early 19th century, the story of Les Misérables follows the lives of many characters. It focuses primarily on the ex-convict, Jean Valjean, and his experience of redemption having been released from prison after serving nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread. Valjean breaks his parole and is pursued for years by the relentless policeman, Inspector Javert. The novel details the history of France, in particular, the 1832 Rebellion in Paris. Themes of love, romance, oppression and justice run deep throughout the novel.

Weekly Films - A Better Life (2011) – Chris Weitz

Cuevana.com- which used to be the pearl of instant film websites for around two years - featured this movie as one of their ‘new releases’ in mid-2011. Seeing as I had nothing better to do than ignore promises of a better life myself, I decided to embrace the opportunity to watch a film I had heard nothing about, with actors I did not know and a director whose name evoked no title. Shrugging my shoulders as if to say, ‘why not?’, I gave it a chance.

Weekly Films - Closely Watched Trains (Ostre Sledované Vlaky) (1966)

The goal of this column by F.R. Le Grand, which will be updated every one or two weeks, is to recommend films of great power and significance, regardless of the decade, the style, how many stars are present or how controversial it is. Non-Hollywood films will be given a slight preference, as the aim is to explore the creative, the innovative and the unknown.

Opening Dialogue: ‘’My name is Milos Hrma. They often laughed at my name.  But otherwise, we were a happy family. Our great-grandfather Lukas, as a tambour, fought on the Charles Bridge of Prague
and when the students threw cobblestones at the soldiers they hit great-grandfather with such aim
that he’s received a pension ever since: One gulden per day.  He didn't do anything after that, except buy a bottle of rum and a pack of tobacco every single day… My grandfather William was a hypnotist
and the whole town believed his hypnotism was prompted by a desire to go through life without any effort…My father, an engine driver, has been retired since the age of forty eight and people are mad with envy since dad is healthy and will draw his pension for twenty, maybe thirty years without doing a thing.’’
